• FSX_SPACE Echomail Area Closing Down

    From Avon@21:1/101 to All on Sun Feb 16 14:25:14 2025
    FSX_SPACE IS CLOSING DOWN EFFECTIVE 22 FEB 2025 ===============================================

    FSX_SPACE - Space/Astronomy is closing down and will not be available in
    fsxNet after 22 February 2025.

    The level of traffic in this echomail area has not be very high for some time so it makes sense to merge the topics covered in FSX_SPACE into the FSX_GEN echo which can accommodate them with its General Chat + More.. focus.

    ** fsxNet Sysops ** please ensure you delink this echomail area from your fsxNet HUB by 22 Feb 2025 (or sooner). If you intend to carry this echomail area still for posterity please ensure you set user access to the echo as **read only** from 22 Feb 2025 (or sooner) for all users of your system.

    A detailed announcement about this change and others coming to fsxNet
    has been made in FSX_NET the fsxNet Admin echomail area. This admin echo
    is available to sysops and BBS users alike. Don't see it listed at your favourite BBS? Ask your sysop to link/carry the FSX_NET echo! :)

    I don't know what this means - FTNs are my weak point in BBSing; when FTNs cancel an echo/msg area, I normally just LEAVE it for archival purposes...

    If I need to do some maintenance or remove echos, can I help create a readme.txt for other idiot sysops like me??? :P

    it means if you still want to show users of your BBS this echomail area after 22 Feb please set the post ACS high so that users can no longer post to it but only read it. Also remove the echomail node that you export posts made to the base... this is an extra precaution to avoid unwanted posts being sent out to the (soon to be) defunct area.

    If you don't want people to see the old base content you could just always delete the base and solve the issue quickly that way too :)

    Look at that - he tells me exactly what I need to do... and I prolly won't change a darned thing and mess everything up.

    Remove export, set ACS high - where? Oh yea, right here... ugh.
