Acronis True Image is taking 20+ hours to back up 2.5TB. This is ridiculous. What can I use that would be as effective, but actually
use the 1Gbps the drive is capable of instead of about 50mbps...

Give veeam backup "Agent for Windows" a try. (Free for home use). https://www.veeam.com/products/free/microsoft-windows.html?ad=downloads
It will of course do a initial full lbackup, then incremental for the remaning untill the roll over date and then depending on the settings a full backup.
* Get off the lawn feature might not actually be real. #-)

Interesting, I'm using Windows backup for Windows 7 (hidden on Windows
11, but still there) and expect it to go away at some point. I like
Veeam, use their software on VMWare extensively.

Your using the wrong type of software. There is no need to always backup
the whole drive.

It will backup to local hd, usb drive, network. Plus tell the kids to get off the lawn.*

Is that over USB 2.0? If so, perhaps that speed is expected.

I just replaced the drive, I need to backup all of my stuff. Normally
it does incremental backups.

Is it fast? I'll look at it.

Agree with Vorlon, I used Veeam Free Agent for many months if not
years. It just runs!! It does the job well.

Yes it is.. I only use it across a gigabit network and am seeing backup speeds of 130+mb a sec. Backuping up to usb (even usb 3) devices
will always be slow imho...
I've done test's in the past and foind going across the network was always 3-4 times faster.

3.1Gen2 I believe. Not 2.0. The drive does 100MBps regularly when dragging files over.

Could you give some details on where that Win7 backup function can be found in Win11? I'd like to know for use on my wife's Windows machine. Thanks.
P.S. - Not sure if you know it, but there were a BUTTLOAD of
extra/blank lines between the end of your message text and the
tear/origin lines.

Control Panel ->security and Maintenance, or Control Panel, All Control Panel Items, Backup and Restore (Windows 7)

I'm reading mail with a QWK reader - I may have <cr>'ed those lines
down and not cleaned up my reply afterwards.

I'm using USB 3, and it is to an HDD, so it's going to be around 100-200MB/s. Your quote of 130mb/s is extremely slow, unless you're
using the wrong abbreviations for MegaByte (you're using megabit). I
