So this came through as a bad message for me. Did you happen to "upload" it to your BBS (vs typing it in...)?

    Hi deon,

    Thanks for the comeback.

It was an email I received and I wanted to spread the word in here, so I
did upload the text instead of typing it out.

Was hoping there wouldn't be an issue doing this but if it's ended up in
your bad msg folder, that's not good. At least you saw it. :)

    Cheers.

No it didnt end up in my bad folder, I only saw the first line.

I see this kinda of message often and trying to understand what the cause is, and I think that its from Mystic hosts, when users "upload" their message (vs typing it in). That appears to be the common cause so far...

I'm guessing many other folks didnt see it either...

I'm curious to know how one "uploads" to Mystic? I've always had to cut and paste when I've tried to us an offline editor. If there is an easier way, I would really like to know? Anyone?

Ah ok, that is a strange one. You would think that even though the text has been uploaded, as long as its edited correctly in the msg editor, it should send as normal and be readable.

I just didn't fancy typing out the whole article, so went the "easy" route.

    Cheers.

Once in the msg editor, just hit ESC and select (U)pload Content. Then
choose a pre saved txt file from your computer and upload.

That's what I did but it seems that there's an issue when sending out over echomail.

Hi Fuzion, below is the message as it was received here, as already noted it appears to have been cut off.

No tear line and origin line may suggest the message was cut off after completion (the tear/origin lines were cut also, instead of being appended to a cut message).

Squish didn't complain about the message when it was received here (though it had already been passed through 21:1/100 before coming to me).

Also - I am not very familiar with Amiga, though I have long been curious and remain curious seeing that there's an active scene. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for letting me know. Yeah, it's a shame the entire thing never made
it through but at least the main site (www.nukleus.nu) is decipherable.

The Nukleus guys are doing a great job with this project and it's basically
a world charts for the Amiga scene. This comes out roughly every 2 years and anyone can vote for their fave demo scene intro/demo/ascii artist/musician /coder/demo group etc and there's even a category for best BBS. :)

The Amiga scene is still pretty big if you know where to look and it's great
to see people trying to squeeze the last drops from 30+ year old hardware.

    Cheers.

I actually dont know (dont use it), but somebody commented that they uploaded their message vs typing it in.

I'm assuming that you can choose upload while composing?

a lot of terminals have this feature. in ZOC it's CTRL-SHIFT-PGUP by default. SyncTERM you'd do ALT-U, select your file and pick ASCII.

the BBS just sees it as if you typed it in so there isn't really any "magic" going on..

Mystic's built-in editor also seems to support uploading via any installed protocol.. not really sure why you'd use that if the previous method is available though (transfer protocols would have overhead that might be truly bad on really old machines..) now that i think of it if it was from a Mystic BBS this is probably what they're talking about..

either way i don't really see the use case.. maybe for an announcement or something.. if you need an external editor you're putting some time/thought into your writing and might idle timeout the bbs, and if you're downloading whole messages, responding to them individually and then coming back to post them you might as well use MultiMail instead.

Did the text file you uploaded have any soft (or hard) CRs in it? Or UTF-8 characters, or anything out of the ordinary? Was it saved in DOS or UNIX format?

I'm just asking whatever questions off the top of my head to see if it can be narrowed down and possibly fixed. Apologies for the 'smack in the face' of questions. :)

    Regards,
    Nick

So this came through as a bad message for me. Did you happen to "upload" it to your BBS (vs typing it in...)?

I wonder if its only reaading the first line or so, and finding something its interpreting as EOF... It would defeat the purpose of uploading preprared
text but I wonder... if.. a file with no blank lines and all hard returned at 78-79 Chr will pass reliably... might be something to test in test.. :)
