The village had a halloween party "downtown" in one of the village buildings - It went from about 4pm until 8pm so it was really quiet here yesterday.. no where near the trick or treaters we've gotten in the past years.

The thing is down here, if you leave your porch light off, the "Trick or Treaters" won't stop by. It has gotten out of hand the past several years with
kids, accompanied by adults, coming by from all over town. With gasoline at $3.17 per gallon for regular, it would be cheaper for them to go to a Wal Mart and buy the Halloween candy, but to them, free is free no matter how much it costs. (-:

Last year, we saw some really sad stuff.. like adults dressed up knocking at your door - what can you do.. these weren't the employed people in town, ya know.. felt bad for them, really so I gave them a bit extra <grin>. Worst thing
I remember though last year was the cars from villages near-by dropping off car-loads of kids - well, you didn't see that this year either, and I'm not sure why.. maybe the flooding we've just recently had? I'd like to think that's
not the reason.. People are still dealing with Fema and all that in nearby Binghamton, Owego and other villages.. :(
