    I was able to install an ftp proxy package on PFSense which seems to have resolved the lack of passive support in synchronet's ftp server and allows my BBS to continue to connect up via QWK from behind a 1:1 NAT.

    It's great to be back on-line!

    Synchronet FTP server supports passive just fine. The problem was the FTP client you were using (Windows' ftp.exe).
