    Hi All,

The first snapshot of GoldED+ 2.0.0 was released today:

    https://github.com/evs38/golded-plus/releases/tag/golded-plus-2.0.0-20260912

For anyone building it from source and wondering why your new binary is still showing 1.1.5, you probably need to modify the __GVER__ value in your golded3/mygolded.h file:

    __GVER__(2,0,0)

Maybe in a future release mygolded.h could be dispensed with?

This can be dispensed with. To do so, we need to switch completely to autotools (configure, etc.)

I'm using CMake. Can it be generated by CMakeLists.txt instead?

    Hello All!

    Just compiled.

By coincidence, I run uncofigured golded (just copied advanced.cfg to golded.cfg) and ended with empty dir after immediate exit. Interesting ;-)

OK. Looks like working on 5.14.0-687.42.1.el9_8.aarch64

    You probably need kLIBC installed.

https://ecsoft2.org/klibc-gcc-runtime-library is down, but this should work:

    https://repos.arcanoae.com/anpm/klibccfg_1_0_2_2.exe

I do, however the version is 1.0.2.1. I'm not going to do any updates right at the moment. I'll check it later.

    This version works. :)

Great! I look forward to bug reports: the OS/2 version hasn't been tested very thoroughly :)

While this isn't OS/2 related, the subject still stands.. ;)

I have been building Golded with 'make GOLD_UTF8=1' parameter since you started this wild and crazy adventure, but by reading your changes in building.txt more carefully this time around, am I correct in assuming that building for UTF-8 is now default and I don't need that parameter any more?

Also, at some point recently, I had to start using 'git pull --autostash'. I have a feeling it was when you modified 'golded.conf' in the 'etc' directory, since that is where I've kept all of my modified config files for years, including 'golded.conf'. I had assumed that nothing in 'etc' would ever be changed since they were some random dude's config files included into the sources at some point, that probably shouldn't even be there (everything in 'cfgs/config' are where the actual proper examples are, IMO). I imagine to avoid any of this in the futrue, I probably have to actually /install/ Golded somewhere else (I currently just compile, and have a script I can run from anywhere that runs Golded from the 'bin' directory, and all of my settings are in 'etc')?

Might be something I'll have to clean up if/when this is merged into the master branch, as I have two separate versions of Golded installed here currently.

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards,
    Nick

Yes I was building it with "BUILD=minimal", as I only need *.msg and Jam based message support.

Perhaps the docs could be refined to add that spellcheck will also not be included with "BUILD=minimal"?

Yes, the documentation there was already heavily outdated in the main branch and requires a complete overhaul.
