• FidoMail Mobile 0.1.0+15 released - attach files by link

    Hello All!

FidoMail Mobile 0.1.0+15 is out. It builds on the UUE support from
+14: when you attach a file, you now choose HOW it travels.

    * "Attach file..." in the composer and "Post file..." in the message
list now offer two methods: embed the file into the message as
classic UUE, or upload it to a public hosting site and insert a
"filename: URL" line instead. Files too big for UUE can travel as
a link; readers just tap the URL.

    * The upload option also works on NNTP and IMAP servers, where UUE
    posting was never offered.

    * Settings -> File upload selects the hosting: catbox.moe (default,
200 MB), 0x0.st (512 MB), or your own catbox-compatible endpoint
(https only). Before anything is sent the app shows what will be
uploaded and warns that the file becomes a public link, that
anonymous uploads may be impossible to delete, and that photo
metadata (GPS tags) travels with the file as-is.

    * Every upload leaves a receipt (URL, and the deletion token where
the host gives one) that survives backups.

Two honest caveats, measured on the day of this release:

    * catbox.moe file links (files.catbox.moe) are blocked by many
Russian providers - readers in Russia may not be able to open
    them directly.

    * 0x0.st is not accepting uploads at all right now (their notice
blames bot spam); the option stays for when the host returns.

If you run your own web host: any catbox-compatible endpoint plugs
into Settings - that sidesteps both problems at once.
