Three changes in FidoMail Mobile 0.1.0+42, all from your reports:
- New-mail notifications now also fire when you sync by hand. They
used to require the timer ("Sync automatically" or "Sync in
background"), and both of those ship switched off - so if you sync
with the button, nothing ever made a sound, however many groups you
had ticked. That was the whole of the "checkboxes are set, mail
arrives, no sound" report. Thank you!
- Notifications are now off by default and ask Android for permission
the moment you switch them on, instead of at first launch before the
app has explained anything. IMPORTANT for anyone upgrading: if you
ever tapped "Don't allow", the switch now honestly shows OFF -
Settings -> "New-mail notification", turn it on and allow. If the
system is still blocking us, Settings now says so in red instead of
staying silent.
- Rescan speaks your uplink's dialect. Asking an hpt-based boss to
rescan an area used to fail ("no uplinks to forward"), because every
tosser spells the rescan command differently. FidoMail now
recognizes D'Bridge and FMail uplinks by their packets and otherwise
uses the hpt form; you can also set it by hand per server, in the
server editor -> "Rescan command dialect".
