What will be interesting in this accident, is unless similar non manufacture recommended MX procedures were used as was the case with American, or that this was a one off manfucature defect. This would actually fall squarely on Boeing (Who owns the liability now.).
Strange that it took this long for a common failure mode to occure on the MD-11 though.

So far I have not heard anything come out of the grounding/inspections on the DC/MD-10 and MD-11 fleets.
