Welcome Lucas! Windows XP (or what I sometimes call Windows NT 5.1) was a major success for Microsoft, for sure. An important OS in the history of Windows.

Hi Lucas! Windows XP introduced the Windows Preinstallation environment which could USB boot a small copy of Windows similar to Linux live. It was also one of my favorites.

    Welcome to BBSing.

26, here. I had a close group of friends all the same age or a little
younger on the BBSes, and we talked about first jobs, first apartments,
first breakups, first realization that there was more to life than
    school and what we knew.

I wish I'd saved the messages from back then. I'd like to get to know
    that kid again.

I have my homebrew software and data disk for my C64 BBS I wrote as a
teenager. I think 13-15.... at 15 I discovered girls and stopped coding
for a few years while I pursued them. ;)

Having said that I highly doubt the floppy is still good, and I'd have to
see if any of the 64's in my closet will run. It's on my long list of
things I want to get to.

I bought a zoom floppy a while back basically you plug a 1541 into a USB and it becomes a drive. I backed up all my work and floppies. The sooner you do it the better because magnetic media isn't forever.

Oh.. trust me, you don't. I once found some of my old uSENET posts from the 90s (thank you Google, you fuckers!) and also some of the articles I published in old demoscene disk magazines.

The only benefit I had from that is that I was more eager to forgive all the stupidness and lack of eloquence and other irrational nonsense when I heard my own 18-21 son communicating.

Other than that.. yeah... my right then to think and communicate the way I did... it's just embarrassing to realize the beginnings of that long journey continually moving on, since.

I did find an old .PST file from a company I worked at from 1997-1999.
For some reason, I thought composing HTML email using OCR A fonts was

Welcome to the show that never ends Lucas! I started my first BBS in 1986, running on a C64 and a single 1541 disk drive (a whoppping 170K of storage). Worked my way up to Synchronet and consider it to be one of the finest BBS programs out there. Very well supported both by the developer and user base!
