Though I still drank things; just that my idea of drinking is to have enough sips to review the wine, and then have someone else finish off
the other 2/3rds of my tasting portion.
My mother's upbringing of "clean your plate!" apparently extended to
"finish your wine!" in my mind. I learned some time ago that it's OK to
pour the remainder out after a taste -- also, after 3 or 4 full tastes,
my palate is gone and they all taste the same.

A couple of years ago we went on holiday with my parents and my
brother's family - my parents are odd, while my brother and I rarely
see eye to eye on anything. By early evening each day my brain would be cooked so the wife and I would go for a quiet glass of wine down at the far end of the garden.
