Only thing I did not like was that I had to buy a new microsd card to store my game data. A new 256gb card costed me
around $65.

I deleted some of the digital games I had on it to spare some space for later.

In my backlog I want to try Super Mario Bros Wonder again, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Dragon Quest III HD remaster and
Xenoblade Chronicles X Definite edition.

We got a Switch 2 on launch day, had it pre-ordered. Got the new Mario Kart World game as well (physical) and also got the upgrades for Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom.

Played the new Mario Kart for a bit for a few days, and it's neat, but really have been spending a lot of my time with the new system re-playing Breath of the Wild. That game we beautiful before, but the 4K upgrade really makes it shine. On the original switch you'd sometimes have some jitter/slow down in certain scenarios, especially when you're in the Lost Woods. With the Switch 2 version everything is buttery smooth.

Even some of the textures on the original game were a little pixalated/dithered but were upgraded/corrected in this version. It's nice to see new life breathed into a 7 year old game, well worth the $15 CAD upgrade price.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Definite edition.

I loved this game. It received some hate but I enjoyed it a lot. I played it when it was on the WiiU and I can say the switch port is the best version.

Outside legacy stuff (I never owned Switch1), what should convince to buy it if I'm not that much of a remote playing and I have a proper PC + legacy PS3/4 backlog still in place?

The main reason to buy a Nintendo product these days is access to their line of exclussive games. If you are not interested in playing Zeldas and Marios I think it is s more economical in the long run to buy a Steam Deck or a clone, mainly because PC titles are cheap and often available for free (legally), not to mention these handhelds can emulate easily up to the 7th generation of consoles and in a pich you can ssh into your servers and run your data center from one. Certainly, if you have a Playstation system already and you don't need to play on the go there is not much of a reason to buy anything else.

But then if you don't play that much I suspect a console makes a bit more sense... an Evercade and a couple of game cartridges are cheaper than a gaming computer, if you get the gist.

I am not a super Zelda fan, but I certainly enjoyed the original one, plust the Oracle games for the Game Boy color. A Link to the Past looked nice but I never got to play it much.

I wanted to like Breath of the Wild but I hate the way weapon degradation works, and Epona is a paid extra. Like, fuck that, you give us a Zelda game with horse mechanics and make Epona a paid extra?

Echose of Wisdom is nice but does not feel like an actual Zelda game to me for some reason.

I've never really been into the Zelda games, but I remember the Zelda cartridge for NES being gold, I think? And I think it was one of the first console games I was aware of having a battery inside the cartridge to keep your game saved so you could turn the console off and then continue where you left off later (there was no flash storage, at least not cheaply back then).

I remember having the shiny gold Zelda II: The Adventure of Link cartridge for the NES. I'm not sure whatever happened to those games or the actual NES system.

I remember wishing there was a gold cartridge for A Link to the Past, that was one of my favourite games on the SNES. The 3DS Link Between Worlds game was also pretty cool as it used the same map.
